Acne Causes

Acne is a generic term used to describe several conditions that affect the skin and result in a sort of ‘explosion’ on the skin. This ‘explosion’ is in the form of a sudden and uncontrolled growth of pustules across the skin, usually around the face. There are many different forms of acne depending on the variations in the condition being experienced by a patient.

The most common form of acne is acne vulgaris. Acne causes lesions that are commonly referred to as pimples. However, acne can also cause large parts of the skin to appear reddish and inflamed. The texture of this part of the skin is rough and it may also be raised off the surface. The hormonal changes in an adolescent tend to trigger off acne and associated skin conditions. One might notice that a person suffering from acne has an oily skin surface. This is one of the contributing factors to the condition. This oily residue tends to clog up the pores of the skin and exacerbates the condition.

Nearly every adolescent is affected by acne although most people suffer from very mild symptoms. The most common mild acne symptom is the random and occasional formation of pimples on the skin of an affected individual. Most teenagers have been through this condition. For these people, general hygiene is useful in avoiding or reducing the effects of acne. This is the most effective method of acne control. Regular washing of the face and other affected areas tends to refresh the skin. While doing this, it is important to use a soap that does not dry the skin excessively. Such soaps are likely to be counterproductive, especially if the skin turns so dry that it gets affected by other conditions. A person suffering from acne is likely to be advised to reduce his or her consumption of oily foods and sweets. A general good diet that includes fruits and vegetables is likely to reduce the effects of acne. Another acne treatment is to simply hydrate the body well. Proper hydration will mean that the body is continuously cleansing itself through urination. This could have a beneficial effect on a person suffering from acne. For severe cases of acne, treatment should only be sought from a dermatologist. The use of different ointments or creams may be recommended by the doctor. These creams are usually targeted at the symptom and not at the underlying condition. If the above acne remedies do not show results, it is best that you consult a specialist for the same.
