Psoriasis Skin Disease

Psoriasis is a serious autoimmune disease that causes red, scaly patches on the skin because of which the skin becomes dry. Psoriasis causes are primarily attributed to the inability of the immune system to differentiate between cells and tissues of the body and foreign materials. When the immune system sends wrong signals it causes the skin cells to grow at a rapid rate which in turns leads to psoriasis. The severity of this condition varies from person to person and it may cover a small portion of the skin or may affect the whole body. Symptoms of psoriasis could occur in a number of forms such as plaque, guttate, pustular and flexural psoriasis. If psoriasis symptoms are too severe, you should not wait to treat them with home remedies but visit a doctor immediately. However, if the symptoms are very mild and barely cover 10 percent of the total surface of the skin, psoriasis treatment is possible with the application of a few lotions and creams that will be prescribed by your doctor. Psoriasis normally affects the skin on the elbows and knees but may also affect the scalp, genitals, palms of hands and soles of feet. This disease however, is not contagious.

Psoriasis treatment is possible at home by using a few ingredients from your kitchen. Cabbage is one such ingredient that can be effectively used for psoriasis remedy in which case you need to wash the leaves in warm water, dry them and smooth them out using a rolling pin once you have removed the veins that appear on the leaves. Once you are done with this they should be made warm again and then put on the particular areas that have been affected. Psoriasis cure can also be possible with the help of aloe vera gel that is applied on the patches. Make a cup of bitter gourd juice, add a teaspoon of lime juice to it and drink this mixture everyday first thing in the morning for around 4 to 5 days. A bath in Epsom salt is a remedy that has been recommended by many for years now and is very effective in treating psoriasis. It is also said that you apply olive oil after having this bath for faster healing. Psoriasis prevention is possible by avoiding foods that are very spicy and pungent. These foods are not easily digested because of which they produce toxins in the blood and a rise in these toxins causes the psoriasis to spread immediately.
